August 23, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2207 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 5 p.m. on Tuesday (August 20).

The suspect, Alton W. Fuller, 51, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo of Fuller is attached to this news release.

The victim has been identified as Donnell Johnson, 49.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Davis and M. Althaus reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds inside the business. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

A male suspect returned to the scene with the two firearms used in the incident. Officers detained him without incident and he was transported to 1200 Travis to speak with homicide detectives.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Fuller and, after contacting the Harris County District Attorney's Office, a murder charge was filed. Fuller was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
