2nd Update: Suspects Charged - One Arrested, One Sought in July Fatal Shooting at 5901 North Freeway

August 14, 2024 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested and another wanted in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 5901 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 12:25 a.m. on July 12.

One suspect, Troy Kyles, 24, is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. A booking photo of Kyles is attached to this news release.

A second suspect, Jrdon Mykel Joe, 22, is charged with murder in the same court. An August 2023 booking photo of Joe, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

The victim has been identified as Christian Segundo, 23.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre and K. Amri reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found a male who had been shot multiple times in the parking lot of a vehicle storage lot. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Segundo, deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported there had been an argument over a vehicle. The verbal altercation then resulted in multiple suspects pulling out firearms and shooting Segundo. The unknown suspects fled the scene.

A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene identified possible suspects. Surveillance photos of the suspects were released to the public on July 15.

Further investigation identified Kyles and Joe as the suspects involved in the murder of Segundo. On Monday (August 12), Kyles was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in this incident. Suspect Joe remains at-large.
