September 18, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11800 Westheimer Road about 5:40 a.m. today (Sept. 18).

The identity of the deceased male, 76, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer R. Saenz reported:

According to witnesses, the male, a pedestrian, was crossing southbound on Westheimer near the above address when he was struck by a brown Toyota Venza traveling eastbound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. 

A preliminary investigation indicated the Toyota had the green light prior to the crash.  

The male driver and female passenger of the Toyota were not injured. The driver, who remained at the scene, was questioned and released.  He did not show signs of intoxication.

The investigation is continuing.
