September 11, 2023 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 9300 West Sam Houston Parkway service road (Beltway 8) about 8:05 p.m. last Friday (September 8).

The identity of the deceased male, 27, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Glass reported:

The male was walking northbound in the main lanes of the roadway on Beltway 8 when he was struck by a vehicle of unknown make or model, also traveling northbound.  The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.

The male was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.  It is believed he was walking in the roadway due to a water main break that covered the adjoining sidewalk in several inches of water.
