October 23, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5700 Woodway Drive about 9:30 p.m. on Friday (October 20).

The identity of the deceased male, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer C. Morales reported:

The man was operating a gray Suzuki motorcycle westbound near the above address and swerving from right to left. A white van of unknown make or model, also traveling westbound on Woodway, struck the rear of the motorcycle causing it to lose control. The motorcycle went off the road and struck a wooden light pole. The motorcycle landed on the sidewalk and the man was ejected.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

The driver of the van fled the scene and did not stop to provide assistance.
