October 16, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 5800 Pershing Street about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday (October 15).

The identity of the deceased woman, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Trevino reported:

The woman was walking on or near the sidewalk on Pershing Street. A vehicle of unknown make or model was traveling westbound on Pershing when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the woman. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping to provide medical assistance.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the woman to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
