November 15, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6000 BIssonnet Street that occurred about 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday (November 14).  

The identity of the deceased woman, 50, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer N. Luu reported:  

The woman was crossing the street northbound on Rampart from the south side of Bissonnet.  The driver of a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck turned east onto Bissonnet from Rampart and struck the woman as she crossed.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported her to Ben Taub General hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  

The female driver of the pickup truck, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.  

At this time, it has not been determined if the victim was crossing in or near the crosswalk.  

The investigation is continuing.
