May 16, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7000 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 8:20 p.m. on Monday (May 15).

The identity of the female victim, believed to be 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer D. Thompson reported:

The victim was walking on the sidewalk at the above location when a white Ford F-150 pickup truck attempted to make a right turn out of a private driveway. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and continued to exit onto the feeder road without stopping. The male driver, 44, returned to the scene immediately. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The driver was determined not to be impaired. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and the incident was referred for further investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
