May 9, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 3800 Yale Street about 7:15 p.m. on Monday (May 8).  

The identity of the deceased female, 19, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer N. Luu reported:  

The female was driving a white Kia Optima southbound near the above address when she lost control of the vehicle and veered to the right.  The Kia struck one light pole, scraped a second light pole and then struck a tree.  

The driver was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  Two backseat passengers, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female, were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.  A third backseat passenger, an 18-year-old male, was not injured.  

The investigation is continuing.
