March 1, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 9999 Westheimer Road about 4:20 a.m. today (March 1).  

The identity of the deceased male, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer M. Tamez reported: 

A gold Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Briarpark Drive and a Volvo tractor-trailer truck was traveling eastbound on Westheimer Road.  The tractor-trailer was in the intersection of Westheimer when the Honda entered the intersection and struck the right side of the trailer.  The Honda became wedged under the trailer.  

The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. The driver, 22, of the tractor-trailer truck remained at the scene and was questioned and released , pending further investigation.  

The investigation is continuing.
