July 21, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 8207 Sandra Street about 9:45 p.m. on Thursday (July 20).

The suspect, Santiago Vallejo, Jr., 39, is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  A booking photo of Vallejo is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 38, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barton and A. Ledford reported:

Officers and paramedics were dispatched to a shooting call at the residence at the above address and observed a female who suffered at least one gunshot wound.  Paramedics attempted to revive the victim, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Vallejo, the woman's boyfriend, remained on the scene and admitted his role in the shooting.  He was placed into custody and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
