July 13, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 1221 Redford Street about 3:05 a.m. on July 3.

The suspect, George Dennis Western, 29, is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Western is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Erick Romero, 30.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Zavala, A. Hernandez, V. Nguyen and J. Flores reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above location and found Mr. Romero inside a parked vehicle.  He had suffered a gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Further investigation identified Western as the suspect in this case. He was charged and arrested without incident on Wednesday (July 12).
