February 14, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4300 Antoine Drive about 9:35 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 13).

The identity of the deceased male, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Louangpho reported:

The male was driving a a black Hyundai Elantra at a high rate of speed southbound on Antoine Drive when he ran the red light at the intersection of West 43rd Street and struck a silver Jeep Compass driving eastbound on West 43rd Street with the green light. The Hyundai then went toward the median, struck a tree and then caught on fire. Houston Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the male deceased.

The male driver, 59, of the Jeep was not injured. He was questioned, determined not to be intoxicated and released.

The investigation is continuing.
