February 10, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a woman at 12603 Northborough Drive about 4:15 a.m. on Thursday (Feb. 9).

The suspect, Hugo Alberto Orellana, 35, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 185th State District Court. A booking photo of Orellana is attached to this news release.

The victim, 29, is expected to recover from her injuries.

HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detective J. Wiltz reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a call to assist Houston Fire Department personnel at an apartment complex at the above address. The victim informed officers she woke up to the suspect, her husband, with a sword in his hand. She said Orellana attacked her with the weapon, striking her multiple times. She was able to run from her apartment to a neighbor's home, who called 911. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital.

Officers took Orellana into custody and paramedics transported him to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Orellana was treated and then taken to jail for processing.
