December 5, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6800 South Freeway (State Highway 288 South) about 1:15 p.m. on Monday (Dec. 4).

The identity of the deceased male, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Southeast Patrol Division officers reported:

The male was driving a silver Honda Civic northbound on the freeway at the above address when he struck a white Chevrolet Express, disabled on the right shoulder. Two males in the Chevrolet were standing outside the vehicle at the time and were also struck.

Paramedics transported the driver of the Honda to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. The male bystanders, 42 and 32, were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
