December 4, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5100 Galveston Road about 5:55 p.m. on Saturday (December 2).

The identity of the deceased man, 47, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer C. Vargas reported:

The man was driving a tan Cadillac Escalade northbound at the above address and failed to stay in a single lane. The Escalade crossed into the southbound lanes of Galveston Road and struck a white Chevrolet Express cargo van traveling southbound on Galveston Road. The Escalade came to a stop in a ditch on the northbound side of the road.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver of the Escalade to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The passenger in the Escalade and the driver of the Chevrolet were transported to area hospitals in stable conditions. The driver of the Chevrolet was evaluated and determined not to be impaired.

The investigation is continuing.
