December 4, 2023 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 1300 Central Street about 10:55 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 2).

The suspect, Gustavo Izaguirre 51, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 339th State District Court. A booking photo of Izaguirre is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer J. Bibb reported:

Izaguirre was driving a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck southbound (wrong way) in the northbound lanes of the above address when he struck (head-on) a blue Kia Sportage traveling northbound. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the driver (victim) of the Kia deceased at the scene.

Paramedics transported Izaguirre to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was determined to be impaired and was subsequently charged. Following his release from the hospital, Izaguirre was booked into the Harris County Jail.
