April 27, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4200 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday (April 26).

The identity of the deceased male, 42, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer F. Flynn reported:

The deceased male was a passenger in a blue Ford E450 van transporting furniture and traveling southbound on the main lanes of the North Freeway. According to witnesses, the vehicle lost control, flipped on its side and struck a concrete wall. A preliminary investigation indicated the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and the passenger was not sitting in a proper seat.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the passenger deceased. The driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and determined not to be impaired.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
