April 7, 2023 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in the 5300 block of Galveston Road about 8:55 a.m. on Thursday (April 6).

The identity of the male victim, 24, is pending verification by the arris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Eastside Patrol Division officer V. Molina reported:

The victim was operating a silver Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound at the above address. A male driver, 47, of a white Ford F59 delivery van was traveling southbound and attempted to make a U-turn. The motorcycle slid into the back right side of the van.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where on Thursday (April 6), doctors later pronounced him deceased.

The driver of the Ford, who was determined not to be impaired, remained at the scene and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
