September 23, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 3801 Liberty Road about 9:50 p.m. on September 10.  

The suspect, Delonnie Norman, 21, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.

He is accused in the death of Maurice Cashman Tolbert, 30.  

The other victim, 33, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the arm.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington, Officer G. Zavala and Detective K. Fregia reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at the corner food store at the above address and found the victim lying on the ground in front of the business.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Paramedics pronounced the man deceased. 

A second victim was wounded by the suspect who fired shots into the group of people in front of the convenience store. 

Witnesses stated two black male suspects fled the scene in a red Dodge Charger.  Surveillance photos of the wanted vehicle were previously release to the public on September 12.  

Further investigation identified Norman as a suspect in this case and, on Thursday (September 22), he was taken into custody.  A second unidentified suspect remains at large.
