October 6, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a person found at 3400 East Greenridge Drive about 10:20 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2020.

The suspect, Jermal Tyrelle Richards, 32, is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. A booking photo of Richards is attached to this news release.

The victim, a transgender female, is identified as Aja Foster, 22.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:

Officers were dispatched to a person down call in the roadway at the above address and found Ms. Foster with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced Foster deceased at the scene.

Further investigation identified Richards as a suspect in this case and, on Wednesday (October 5), he was arrested by officers with the HPD Crime Reduction Unit.
