May 26, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect who fired shots at Houston police officers and was then shot by an officer at 4526 Warm Springs Road about 2:35 a.m. on Wednesday (May 25).
The suspect, Robert Julius Paramore, 51, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant in the 337th State District Court. A booking photo of Paramore, who remains hospitalized, is not available for release at this time.
Officer C. Taylor, who discharged his weapon in the incident, was not injured. He was sworn in as an officer in July 2019 and is assigned to the Southwest Patrol Division.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant J. Hekimian and Detectives N. Arellano and W. Elliott reported:
Officers were dispatched to a suicide call at the residence at the above address. Upon arrival, officers located one of the suspect's family members a few houses from the residence. The family member stated the suspect came home intoxicated and threatened to take his own life. While they were talking to the family member, a gunshot was heard coming from the suspect's residence. Officers took cover and two other officers went to the residence. As the officers were exiting their vehicles, the garage door to the suspect's residence opened. The officers could see the suspect holding a handgun. They gave the suspect numerous commands to drop the weapon, but the suspect ignored their commands and shot at the officers. One officer discharged his weapon at the suspect, striking him more than one time. Houston Fire Department paramedics were already on scene and immediately began medical treatment on the suspect. The suspect was transported to a hospital in critical condition, and was later upgraded to stable condition.
As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
