May 9, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 4400 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 12:40 a.m. last Friday (May 6).

The suspect, Christian Markus Gaulke, 21, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 263rd State District Court.  A booking photo of Gaulke is attached to this news release.

The identity of the deceased male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer K. Stanley reported:

Gaulke was driving a tan Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound at the above address when he ran the red light at the Patterson Road intersection and struck a red Mazda van traveling southbound on Patterson.  The driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Gaulke was found to be intoxicated, taken into custody and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
