UPDATE: Person of Interest Sought in Fatal Shooting at 7408 South Sam Houston Parkway West
March 17, 2022 - Houston police are seeking a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a man at 7408 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road (Beltway 8) about 12:50 p.m. on March 5.
The person of interest, Deonte Thomas, 41, is wanted for questioning. He is not charged at this time. A 2021 photo of Thomas is attached to this news release.
The victim, Phillip J. Rogers, 42, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Heaverlo and A. Dudley reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a business parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Rogers in the driver's seat of a truck, suffering from gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Rogers deceased.
At the time, there was no known motive or suspect(s).
Further investigation identified Thomas as a person of interest who may have knowledge about the shooting. Detectives would like to speak with him.
