Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 800 Southwest Freeway
January 28, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 800 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 2:25 a.m. today (January 28).
The suspect, Jason Cornelius Black, 35, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Black is not available at this time, as he remains hospitalized.
The identity of the female victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Hroch and Officer V. Nguyen reported:
A white Ford F-150 pickup truck drove the wrong way, southbound into the northbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway exit ramp for Travis Street and struck a black Lamborghini SUV traveling northbound on the exit ramp.
The passenger in the Ford was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver and passengers of the SUV sustained minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, later identified as Black, was transported to an area hospital and determined to be impaired. Black was subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
