January 27, 2022 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 9800 East FM 1960 about 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday (January 26).

The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants P. Lee and S. Jewell and Officer X. Zhang reported:

The driver of a blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on FM 1960 at the above address when he saw a pedestrian (victim) dragging a metal chain across the roadway from south to north.  The driver unsuccessfully swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the victim. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene, was questioned and released.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
