January 24, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13200 Fondren Road about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 22).

The identity of the deceased male, 69, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer D. Ortega reported:

The male, a pedestrian, was attempting to cross the street - not in a crosswalk - when he was struck by a white Volkswagen Passat traveling northbound on Fondren Road.  The driver immediately stopped, attempted to render first aid and called 911.  Paramedics transported the male to Memorial Herman - Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The male driver, 27, who did not show signs of intoxication, was questioned and released.  The investigation is continuing.
