Update on Incident at 140 Hardwicke Road

January 13, 2006 -- Houston police homicide investigators have released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man and woman at 140 Hardwicke Road about 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 10).

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, anywhere from 5 feet 4 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. He has short black hair, a light mustache, a thin build, and was wearing a plaid shirt. The suspect was seen fleeing in an early 1990s model, blue Ford Tempo with damage to the hood and excessive smoke coming from the exhaust pipe.

One victim, J. Felix Valdez, 29, of 6525 Redding Springs, suffered gunshot wounds to the face and chest. The other victim, Concepsion Vazquez, 44, of 6931 Winding Trace, suffered gunshot wounds to her head and face. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E.S. Mehl and Officer M.F. Waters reported:

The victims operated the "Discoteca Y Novedades" Video Store at 140 Hardwicke Road. They were shot multiple times by an unknown Hispanic male suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a second Hispanic male suspect. Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting, but said robbery might have been a motive.

least one unknown suspect shot at a residence from a vehicle.  The two victims inside the residence were struck and transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital . 

One female suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and the other sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle.  

At this time, there is no known suspect description.
