Investigation into Fatal Crash at 4700 Kelley Street
January 10, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 4700 Kelley Street that occurred about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (January 6).
The suspect, Martha Sanquita Reese (b/f, 18), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 178th State District Court. A booking photo of Reese is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Hroch and Officer M. Keita reported:
A tan Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling eastbound near the above address when the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the median. The vehicle then struck a tree on the passenger side. The male victim was pronounced deceased. The driver and the female rear seat passenger, 20, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver then fled.
The driver, later identified as Reese, was located a short time later by HPD officers near the scene and taken into custody without incident. Reese was subsequently charged for her role in the crash.
