February 28, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 5414 Beverly Hill Street about 2:50 a.m. on January 22. 

The suspect, Kelton Sarver, 21, is charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Sarver, who is in custody in the Harris County Jail, is attached to this news release.   

He is accused in the death of Christopher Navarrete, 25.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Wallschlaeger and H. Horne reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Navarrete unresponsive and lying on the ground.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Navarrete deceased. 

Further investigation identified Sarver as the suspect in this case.  Sarver, who is currently in Harris County Sherriff's Office custody on unrelated charges, was subsequently charged for his role in Navarrete's death.
