February 28, 2022 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 5301 Collingsworth Street about 11:25 p.m. on Sunday (February 27).

The victim is identified as Jaylen Mays, 23.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Jimenez and Detective S. Overstreet reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Mr. Mays inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses told officers Mays was at the location to conduct a business transaction. At some point, an unknown suspect opened fire, striking Mays multiple times.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased.  

There is no suspect description or motive in the shooting at this time.
