February 7, 2022 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 400 North Wilcrest Drive about 2:55 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 5).

The identity of the male victim, 25, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer T. Smith reported:

The victim was driving a white Ford Mustang southbound on North Wilcrest at a high rate of speed.  When he attempted to cross the Memorial Drive intersection, the vehicle hit the raised roadway and lost control.  The Mustang struck a tree and came to a rest on the side of a house located in the 13300 block of Butterfly Lane.  The vehicle caught fire with the driver trapped inside.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No occupants inside the house were injured.  No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.

The investigation is continuing.
