August 15, 2022 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man found at 6550 Hillcroft Avenue about 5 a.m. on July 19.

The suspect, Richard Plata, 23, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. His booking photo is attached to this news release.

Plata is accused in the death of Richard Davis, 67.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Brown and M. Condon reported:

HPD officers responded to a report of a male found deceased inside an abandoned apartment at the above address. The victim, Mr. Davis, had suffered blunt force trauma.

Further investigation identified Plata as the suspect in this case. He was subsequently arrested and charged on Aug. 4.
