Update: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 4005 Hollister Road
October 26, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4005 Hollister Road about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 24).
The suspect, Carlos Carrizales (H/m, 19), is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. A September 2021 booking photo is attached to this news release. Carrizales is not in custody.
The victim is identified as Jose Ismael Gonzalez Fernandez, 23.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Jimenez and Detective C. Bowling reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call outside the business at the above address and observed Mr. Fernandez with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Paramedics transported Fernandez to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Witnesses stated the shooting happened following an argument outside the store.
Further investigation identified Carrizales as the suspect in this case and revealed Fernandez appeared to be leaving the argument when Carrizales charged at him with a gun and then fatally shot him. Carrizales then fled the scene down Pitner Road.
Investigators are looking for any information on people who witnessed or were involved in the argument or may have more information regarding the shooting.
