October 20, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect believed responsible for two separate homicides that occurred in March 2016 and April 2017.
Chris Roddy (b/m, 30) is charged with two counts of murder in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Roddy is attached to this news release.
Roddy is accused in the death of Dantrell Burks, 22, who was fatally shot at 13200 Northborough about 10:25 p.m. on March 21, 2016. Roddy is also charged in the death of Kithy Pagett, 34, who was found deceased at 13111 Northborough about 1:45 p.m. on April 24, 2017.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow, R. Rodriguez and K. Daignault reported:
On October 14, homicide detectives interviewed Roddy, who was in custody at the Harris County Jail for an unrelated sexual assault case. Roddy had been a person of interest in the 2017 homicide of Ms. Pagett and investigators were re-examining the case. During the course of the interview Roddy admitted to investigators he had shot Pagett in her apartment.
At the time of Pagett's death, a witness had described seeing a suspect enter her apartment. The suspect was described only as an older Hispanic male with a gray mustache and glasses. Pagett was found lying in her bedroom, deceased from head trauma. Pagett's young child was found in unharmed in the apartment.
As investigators spoke with Roddy about the 2017 homicide, he also admitted to the 2016 homicide of Mr. Burks. Roddy stated he encountered Burks riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in the 12400 block of Northborough when he shot and killed him.
Burks was found lying on the sidewalk and pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of the shooting, there were no known witnesses or suspects in the case.
Following Roddy's confessions, murder charges were subsequently filed in both cases. At this time, Roddy has stated these are the only murders he has committed.
Anyone with additional information about these cases is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
