Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6300 Gulf Freeway
May 18, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6300 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 12:20 p.m. on Monday (May 17).
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. Daignault and M. Burrows reported:
According to a witness, the victim was driving inbound at the above address while being chased by someone in a newer model black or dark-colored mid-size sedan. Near Griggs Road, the sedan pulled alongside the passenger's side of the victim's vehicle. A suspect, described only as a black male, fired multiple shots into the victim's vehicle. The victim, upon being struck at least one time, lost control of his vehicle and struck a cement barricade before coming to a stop. The suspect fled the scene. The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
