May 18, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 5424 Antoine Drive that occurred about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday (May 16).
The suspect, Delvin Tyrone Stanford, Jr. (b/m, 28), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault of a family member in the 230th State District Court. A photo of Stanford is not currently available.
The victim, Jonathan Young, 28, was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Sergeant S. Neal and Detective D. King reported:
A female victim, 30, stated she was in a previous dating relationship with suspect Stanford and had five children with him. She told investigators she broke up with Stanford three months ago and was now dating the victim, Mr. Young.
The victim stated that while she and Young were at a convenience store at the above address, suspect Stanford entered the store and pointed a gun at Young, threatening to shoot him because he was dating his ex-girlfriend and was around their children. Stanford then exited the store where he approached the female victim and threatened to shoot her. Stanford then took her vehicle and fled with their son inside.
The couple remained at the store and called police. While waiting, Stanford returned, approached Young, and shot him multiple times.
Stanford then fled the scene.
