Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 12400 Northwest Freeway
May 14, 2021 - A suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 2501 Westridge Street about 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday (May 12) is in custody.
The suspect, Cecil Artelle Turner (b/m, 24), is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. A booking photo of Turner is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 36, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Rossow and L. Palma reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a traffic hazard call at the above address and learned the incident was a shooting. Officers observed the victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect fled the scene in a 2019 blue Dodge Charger with Texas license plates NVK7618.
Further investigation and witness statements identified the wanted suspect as Cecil Turner. On Thursday evening (May 13), Turner turned himself in, was questioned and then booked into jail.
