May 3, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8900 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) that occurred about 5:35 a.m. on Sunday (May 2).  

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer J. Tran reported:  

A minor crash occurred in the main lanes of the northbound side of the North Freeway.  A few minutes later, a gold Honda Accord struck a black Hyundai, which was involved in the first crash.  A few minutes after the second crash, the drive of a white Chevrolet van struck the driver of the Honda (victim) as he was standing outside his vehicle inspecting the damage.  The driver of the van fled the scene on foot.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
