Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 6 Greenway Plaza Drive
June 8, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 6 Greenway Plaza Drive about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday (June 5).
The suspect, Omari Sykes (b/m, 18), is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. He is not in custody. An April 2020 booking photo of Sykes is attached to this news release.
The victim, Nashibo Taylor, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Rivera and D. Hobson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at a hotel at the above address. Upon arrival, they found Mr. Taylor, had been shot while inside the business. HPD officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics rendered first aid, however Taylor died at the scene.
Further investigation led to the identification of Omari Sykes as a suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged for his role in Taylor's death. Sykes remains at large.
