July 06, 2021 - Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a man at 16266 Alden Ridge Drive about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday (July 3).

The victim, Keith Deon Alford, 40, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer J. Wright reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and learned Mr. Alford and the woman on scene were in a dating relationship and lived at the location with the woman's adult daughter.  Alford and the woman had attended a cookout at a reception hall at 10505 Telephone Road and Alford had confronted the woman and possibly assaulted a male he believed she was talking to.  A disturbance occurred between a group of people, which caused the woman to leave and drive home in her vehicle.  Alford arrived at the residence shortly after the woman arrived.

Alford and the woman got into an argument outside the residence and the woman notified her daughter of the argument  The woman then took her firearm out of her purse and gave it to her daughter and began arguing with Alford in the garage.  As both parties began to push each other, the woman's daughter entered the garage holding the gun.  As Alford turned his attention to the daughter, the woman placed herself between Alford and her daughter and took the gun from her.  As Alford approached the woman, she fired a shot and Alford was struck in the face area.  The woman then recovered a firearm from Alford's possession.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Alford to the hospital.

The woman was questioned by investigators and stated she accidentally shot Alford.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
