Traffic Incident at 7600 Gulf Freeway

December 21, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal accident at 7600 Gulf Freeway on Thursday December 20, 2005 about 9:45 p.m.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer A. Alaniz reported:

The vehicles were traveling southbound on the Gulf Freeway. One of the vehicles changed lanes and struck the back the other vehicle. The struck vehicle spun out and burst into flames. The driver of this vehicle was killed. The driver of the striking car was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with a broken arm and a shoulder injury.

UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 11575 Bissonnet Street

July 06, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 11575 Bissonnet Street about 8:50 p.m. on April 28.  

The suspect, Dwaine Allen Davis (b/m, 30), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Edwin Lavon Alcorn, 28.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective R. Naughton reported:  

Mr. Alcorn and several other males were gathered in front of a convenience store at the above address.  Alcorn and a suspect, who possibly knew each other, were standing in the same group just prior to the shooting.  Alcorn turned his back and was shot by the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot.  

Further investigation identified Dwaine Davis as the suspect in this case.  Davis was taken into custody on June 29 on an unrelated weapons charge and was subsequently charged for his role in this shooting.
