January 25, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2605 Hadley Street about 6:40 p.m. last Friday (Jan. 22).

The suspect, Donald Glen Jones (b/m, 34), is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court.  A booking photo of Jones is attached to this news release.

The victim, Kevin Verdine, 49, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detective J. Pickett and Officer R. Waterwall reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting in-progress call to a residence at the above address and observed Jones rendering aid to Mr. Verdine, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Officers attempted to perform lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived and pronounced Verdine deceased. 

Investigators questioned Jones and he was detained and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
