January 20, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5800 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday (January 19).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer J. Best reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, was attempting to cross the outbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway at the above address when he was struck by a white Toyota Avalon.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.  He was questioned and released with no charges filed.  

The investigation is continuing.
