January 6, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1300 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) service road about 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday (January 5).  

The identity of the male victim, 41, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant. R. Reinoso and Officer C. Loring reported:  

The victim was driving a tractor-trailer truck containing ethanol at a high rate of speed westbound and exiting the North Loop East at Irvington when he failed to stay in a single lane.  At that time, the truck and trailer then flipped and burst into flames. 

Houston Fire Department emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.  No other injuries were reported in the crash.  There was some property damage due to the contents of the tanker. 

The investigation is continuing.
