February 15, 2021 - The fatal shooting of a male at 1303 Gears Road that occurred about 7:35 a.m. on February 11 has been referred to a Harris County grand jury.  

The deceased male is identified as Dinel Torres, 41.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Grimes and K. Persad reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address where Mr. Torres was found lying on the walkway between buildings.  Torres had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Houston Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

Officers detained the male shooter at the scene.  The shooter told officers he and the victim had been arguing when Torres left and returned with a firearm, which he displayed to the male.  The male then pulled his own firearm and discharged it several times, striking Torres. 

The case was referred to a Harris County grand jury for review.
