August 2, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2098 Emancipation Avenue that occurred about 10:40 a.m. on Saturday (July 31).  

The identity of the female victim, 25, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer M. Lares reported:  

According to a witness, the victim, driving a red Kia Optima was traveling southbound on Emancipation Avenue and ran the red light at the intersection of Gray Street.  The Kia was struck by a white GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling westbound on Gray Street.  The Kia spun and and came to a stop in a grassy field at the southwest corner of the intersection.  

The female driver of the Kia was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the pickup truck was evaluated at the scene.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
