April 28, 2021 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4500 North McCarty Street that occurred about 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday (April 27).  

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall and Officer D. Bledsoe reported:  

A white Ford F-150 pickup truck, reported stolen in Harris County, was located in the 12700 block of Enchanted Path.  Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies located the vehicle driving southbound on John Ralston Boulevard and initiated a traffic stop.   The suspect fled and a pursuit continued to the 4500 block of McCarty Street where the suspect drove onto the dirt shoulder, lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole.  The truck then burst into flames.  The suspect, who was trapped inside the pickup truck, died at the scene.  

The investigation is continuing.
