April 15, 2021 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6200 Telephone Road that occurred about 9:05 p.m. on February 6.  

One suspect, Larry Thrash (b/m, 28), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  The second suspect, Marcus Sparkman (b/m, 37), is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court.  Charges are pending a juvenile suspect, 16. Booking photos of Thrash and Sparkman are attached to this news release.    

All are accused in the death Taju-Deen Dahniya, 41. 

HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Russow and L. Patterson reported:  

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a strip center parking lot at the above address.  Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing two males running from the area.  Harris County Precinct 2 deputy constables arrived on scene prior to HPD officers and found Mr. Dahniya deceased in the driver's seat of a vehicle.  A second male, later identified as suspect Thrash, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the side of the building.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to an area hospital. Another male ran from the scene and appeared to be limping form a right leg injury, possibly a gunshot wound.  

A preliminary investigation indicated a dark-colored vehicle, registered to Sparkman, drove around the parking lot, prior to the shooting.  The same vehicle then dropped Thrash and the juvenile off on a street behind the location.  Thrash and the juvenile then got into Dahniya's vehicle.  A short time later, Thrash and the juvenile got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, both with injuries.  Further investigation identified the driver of the sedan as Sparkman.

Thrash was arrested on April 7 and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.  Sparkman was arrested on April 8 and charged for his role in the incident.  Sparkman was found to be on federal probation and on bond for felony charges.  The juvenile suspect is currently in the custody of the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authority.
