Mayor's Office Press Release
Harris County Judge Hidalgo and Houston Mayor Turner to Announce 2020 Census Plan and Complete Count Committee
July 19, 2019 -- County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Mayor Sylvester Turner, along with Houston in Action, will hold a news conference Friday, July 19, to discuss steps the county and city are taking to ensure every person is counted in the 2020 Census. They will also announce the newly appointed members of the Complete Count Committee, which will focus on reaching populations that are hard-to-count and will provide outreach and messaging tailored to fit diverse communities.
The region could potentially lose congressional representation and billions in federal dollars for health, education, public safety and other areas, if people do not participate in the 2020 census.
